Android Apps to Download When You Move To a New City
Moving to a new city can be exciting and scary at the same time. Exciting because you’ll be able to explore new places and scary because you probably won’t have a lot of friends there. Thankfully, there are plenty of Android apps to download when you move to a new city that will make the transition all the more easier and fun. The process of moving alone is hard enough, you don’t want to have the headache of finding a decent enough restaurant to have a good meal as well. These Android apps to download when you move to a new city will not only help you in tracking down basic necessities but also enable you to fully enjoy your stay in a new city.
Testing out these great apps almost make me wish that they were available back when I moved to another city in 2012. Android had already made its mark on the world but the apps were not as robust as one would like them to be, apart from checking out Google maps and a few mainstream apps, there was not a lot of variety. Thankfully, today you can easily download Android apps when you move to a new city that are not only beneficial to you immediately but also in the long run.
Note: The Android apps download when you move to a new city were tested on a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge smartphone and 4G Internet connectivity. All the apps performed perfectly fine and there were no problems faced during the testing. All the apps need an active Internet connection to provide up-to-date information.
1. Zomato
First thing you may need when you move to a new city is food. All the utensils are packed, the kitchen is not set up and you lack the ingredients to make food for yourself. This is the perfect opportunity to go out and grab a bite. The thing is, as you are new to the city and you don’t know any good places. Zamato lets you discover and search for restaurants to eat out or order in from. That’s not all, you’ll also be able to check out the restaurant menus, photos as well as reviews by users to decide really well. If you decide to go out instead of ordering in, you can use the map feature to guide you there. That allows you to easily search restaurant locations by selecting certain options. For example, if you are in the mood for Chinese, you can select that option and the app will only show Chinese joints nearby. The app also gives you phone numbers that you can call to order the food. I also really like how you can create your own collections and afterwards share them with your friends and followers.
2. Foursquare City Guide
What if you want to discover more than just restaurants and bars? Foursquare City Guide is a perfect guide app for your wandering needs. No matter which city you move to, you’ll be able to get helpful and positive tips from the community of this app. You can read short tips that are written by actual people all over the world. One great thing about this app is that it doesn’t allow negative rants or any paid ads to show up on screen. If you already have a trusted friend in the city, you can ask them to make a list of places for you to visit. The only downside is that the app constantly uses your GPS location when activated first, draining the battery a little bit faster than you would like. I highly recommend turning off the app or the GPS when you’re not using the app actively.
3. Indeed Job Search
Usually when you move to a new city then you are studying or already have a job offer. But sometimes the job offer falls off when you reach the place or you need a part-time gig to sustain your hobbies while studying in college. Number the reason, everyone always loves to have a bit of extra cash and this app allows you to find the means to get it. Indeed Job Search is one of the most comprehensive search engine for jobs. With this app on your side you’ll be able to access millions of jobs from multiple companies. Whether you’re looking for a full-time opportunity or just a side job, there is a good chance of you finding it within the first week. By using your GPS location, the app will be able to offer you jobs in your city. All you need to do is apply to any job that you like and wait for the response. If you have the proper credentials and experience, you’ll be able to get work in no time.
4. Trulia Rent Apartments & Homes
Just like jobs, when you move to a new city you already have a place to stay in mind. Not all people have benevolent aunts that allow you rent free boarding anytime you want. Even if you already have a place, it may turn out to be an actual dump when you get there. This app allows you to rent apartments and homes at affordable prices. By using the GPS location of your smartphone, the app offers you homes and apartments available for rent nearby. You can also enter your price range and then search properties that suits your needs. So, if you’re in need of a good place to stay or simply want to upgrade from a one-bedroom apartment, this app will act as your virtual realtor.
