I impressed with your activity, It’s really an incredible idea. GPS tracking system helps to protect us by using latest technology.
Nice list! I would also add Pozzr (http://pozzr.com), it’s a great app, just discovered it.
Billa thanks for doing this testing. I have a use a little of the beaten path and would like to know what app would be best for my use. I have over 100 acres of wooded property and our family goes out there to hike and camp. We have a house and I am extending a wifi network to cover the property. Only two cellphone carriers work in the property. So the adults have their phones and I will have some extra older Android phones, that are no longer on a cell service, to give to the older kids. Of the above apps what ones will work on a phone with no cell service? Do any keep a history so if a kid gets beyond the wifi network we would still know what direction they were going in?
Thanks Tim
Tim,
These are some really great questions. If you have managed to extend the Wi-Fi range all over your property, then all of the apps will work fine, regardless of cell service. The locating might be a little inaccurate because the network triangulation will not be used, still you will have a general idea of the location. However, I don’t think any app will tell the direction of the traveling kid. I’ll look for an app which can help you do that.
Regards,
Bila
Life 360 is the absolute BEST one. My favorite part about this app is that it has pinpoint GPS accuracy and when I check on my son I can literally see what bedroom he is in, the arrow will point to the room on roof of the apartment building!
Hi Amy,
Goof to hear that you have found a GPS app that works for you. Enjoy! =-)
Life360 is not good for tracking elders or toddlers in that they move too slowly for the device (the smartphone) to detect and shorten the locating cycle to less than the default 15 minutes. In 15 minutes toddlers and elders can be long gone in a mall or on a busy street. When my spouse walks the dog, for example, History shows she never left the house even though she went several blocks and returned. Life360 is excellent for notifications and car trips, where the motion if faster and farther.
Hi Duane,
Thanks for your feedback on the app.
Hello, Android Device Menager is one of the worst tracking app for Android Devices because when you need to locate that need GPS Location to be turned onn, but some times if we have already let GPS Location turned on the battery wound be reduced fast……. so that app is need Always GPS Location turned onn and to keep the device always online….. if the device is off, the app wound be unable to find the phone….. see that one of the worst tracking app ever made in History……
Hi Hritijan,

None of the tracking systems work if someone steals the phone then turns off gps
HI There,
True, but I think that when someone steals a phone they a more concentrated on making expensive call than turning off the GPS. Hopefully they will forget to turn it off. Thanks for commenting.
I tried it – it really works! Well worth the cost 🙂
Thank you
Hi Israt,
I am happy to hear that it worked out for you and that it was well worth it. You are most welcome and don´t forget to keep coming back for more. Thanks for commenting!
I am looking for a simple user friendly tracking app that will allow you to track Android phones across networks. My Mom has Verizon and I have Sprint. I need to be able to track her phone because she loses it frequently. On Sprint I use the TEP app to find my device and am looking for something similar for her phone. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Hi Nicki,
None of the above mentioned apps were able to work for you? You could also log into Play using her account in a browser (I use an incognito tab in Chrome) and go to manage devices. It will pop it up on a map. Hope this helps. =-)
I’ve been using Life360 ever since ditching my iPhone and losing Find My Friends. While it’s accurate enough, man does it drain my battery. I use it for only me and my wife so premium is of no use to us.
Hi Jim,
Some apps have a tendency of doing that, but I guess it´s a small price to pay for the service the app gives. Other than the battery draining, you´re happy with it, right? =-)
Can you track android tablets with any of these apps?
Yes of course you can do Loren.
Let me know if you need any other help.
hey bro,
Is there any app that doesn’t requre internet to track the location. I am always worried where Dad is so i want to know where he’s at.
Do any of these have an incognito mode? My child learned how to uninstall apps. 🙁
I also wanted to report that Find my Friends can be unreliable. It sometimes will not update for hours. It may be due to lack of a signal but it happens in areas that I have had a signal before.
Hi! This could also be a problem with your friends’ signal or due to them turning off their GPS.
very nice and informative artical.
