8 Ways To Fix The “Do Not Disturb” Feature That Keeps Turning On

What’s good about an Android device is that it has a lot of features that are helpful and important to Android users. But what if these features start to show bugs and become an annoyance? One of which is the “Do not disturb” feature on Android that keeps turning on.

There are a lot of complaints about the “do not disturb” feature on Android being erratic. There are various reasons why this happens to Android users and I’ll show you how to fix everything step-by-step.

Here are the simple way that we are about to see

Fixing An Automatically Scheduled DND Time

Let’s start with the simplest cause. Before you do anything else on your Android device, make sure your device isn’t set to an automatically scheduled “do not disturb” time.

1. Check Your Settings

To do this, go to your “Settings > Do not disturb.”

Settings
Look for “Do not disturb”

2. Turn Off ‘Set Time’ Function

Now, you’ll see the “Manual” and “Set Time” function. Tap “Set Time” to turn on/off your scheduled “do not disturb” time. Tap “Manual” to manually toggle your “Do not disturb” function.

If you accidentally activated the “Set time” feature, then your Android phone would automatically activate the “do not disturb” feature at your set time. Disable this feature by turning on “Manual.”

Fixing Faulty Shortcuts

A lot of users have reported that the manual “do not disturb” shortcut on their device’s dropdown menu keeps turning on. If you have the same problem on your device, follow these steps:

1. Turn Off The Feature Through The Dropdown Menu

Turn off your “do not disturb” mode through your device’s dropdown menu. Proceed to the next step.

By turning the “Manual” feature on, the “Do not disturb” feature will only open when you access it deliberately. Otherwise, check if you have a broken LCD screen that automatically presses on certain areas of your screen.

Using An App To Fix The Problem

If the first and second methods didn’t work, then here’s the last method you can try. Use an app called “Do Not Disturb Toggle.”

This app helps Android users to turn on/off their “do not disturb” modes on a widget. It runs on Android 6.0 and up.

1. Install The App

Before you can use the widget, you’ll first have to install the app via the Play Store.

3. Allow Access

To let your device run the app, you will have to allow permission for the app to make changes in your device’s “do not disturb” mode. Tap Allow to grant permission.

4. Use It From Your App Drawer

Go to your app drawer or home screen and find Do Not Disturb Toggle app. Manually tap the app to turn on/off your “do not disturb” mode. It will show a quick prompt saying “Normal” or “Quiet” to let you know which mode you’re on. And you’re done!

  2. Had set gmail & facebook to silent notifications, noticed every time DND was activated also the media volume was turned off.
I think software bug when notification comes in from an app it turns media volume off and DND on.
Not happened since turning notifications to normal on these apps.

  3. I had issue, that one time I setup Do not disturm Mode. And can’t tur it off.
After I found solution, I know how I get it. I setup this mode on device with stock android. There is option to add DND rules. Then I moved to Samsung device. And settings moved with account. Samsung has no UI to manage rules. So my rule was enabled and no way to access it to disable.

Solution was to install app like “Do Not Disturb – DND – ZenMode” that shows all android native rules and just disable rule.

  4. If you go into Android Auto, tap the menu, then settings. Tap Car settings, then tap behavior, change to None or Open Android Auto. Mine was set to Turn on Do Not Disturb. Works wonderfully now.

  5. I always go to settings and follow the instructions. My scheduled DND works fine but a random DND often happens for no reason whatsoever. By the time I notice this I have usually missed a call or a message

    1. Hi Tim, please try power cycling your device. You can do this by emptying the battery and leaving it off for more than 30 minutes.
