Developers are constantly bringing in newer ways to root specific Android devices and you can easily find different jailbreaking or rooting methods for specific Android devices at the XDA Forums. This guide focuses on different methods for jailbreaking almost any Android device.
Using this guide, you will learn how to jailbreak Android, regardless of your device’s manufacturer or firmware version.
Note: While the methods illustrated here shouldn’t brick your Android device, you should only root your Android device at your own responsibility. Also, rooting may void your device’s warranty. Before you begin rooting, make sure your device is charged at least 75% and make a backup of all your important files, just in case.
Method 1: Framaroot
For the majority of rooting methods, you need a PC for jailbreaking your Android device and you won’t find many reliable apps for rooting your device directly, without using a PC. Framaroot is possibly one of the most popular rooting methods available for Android and you can directly root your Android device using the Framaroot app, without using your PC. Coming from the XDA forums, Framaroot currently supports hundreds of Android devices so compatibility shouldn’t be an issue for most Android devices.
Download the Framaroot app on your Android device. The latest version can be downloaded here. If you download the app on your PC, make sure that you transfer it to your Android device’s storage using a micro USB cable.
Go to the Settings app, tap on Security and make sure that Unknown sources is checked.
Using any file manager, tap on the downloaded Framaroot file and click on Install.
Open Framaroot and select Install SuperSU from the drop down menu, below Select an action.
Choose either Sam, Frodo or Argorn from the list, below Select an exploit. An Exploit result popup should appear with a Success message.
Reboot your device. That’s it! Your device is successfully rooted.
If you get a Failed message on the Exploit result popup, then choose another exploit from the list. If your device is supported by Framaroot, then one of the three exploits should work with your Android device.
Method 2: Root Genius
Root Genius is another popular jailbreaking method for Android that lets you root your device within a couple of minutes. Root Genius is probably one of the simplest and quickest methods for rooting your Android device through your PC as this is a One Click rooting utility.
Download Root Genius on your PC. You can download the software here.
Go to the Settings app on your Android device, click on About phone and keep tapping on Build number until you see a message popup saying You are now a developer.
Go to Developer options in the Settings app and make sure that USB debugging is checked.
If you haven’t installed drivers for your Android device, download the drivers here and install them on your PC.
Open the Root Genius app on your PC and connect your Android device to your PC using a micro USB cable. Once Root Genius detects your Android device, your device will appear as Connected, Unrooted.
Click on the Root now button to start the rooting process.
Wait for the Green bar to fully load. Your device should now be rooted. In order to check whether the rooting process was successful, open your app drawer and look for an app named Kinguser. If you find the app, then the rooting process was successful.
Method 3: Kingo ROOT
Kingo ROOT is another One Click root utility for Android devices that lets you jailbreak your device easily. Kingo ROOT is possible the safest and most secure way of rooting your Android device. The app supports almost every Android device from some of the biggest manufacturers including Motorola, Sony, Samsung and LG. Download and install Kingo ROOT on your PC. You can get the app here.
Enable USB Debugging on your Android device and install the relevant drivers for your Android device by following Step 2, Step 3 and Step 4 from Method 2. Alternatively, you can also install the drivers automatically through Kingo ROOT after connecting your device.
Open the Kingo ROOT app on your PC and connect your Android device to your PC using a micro USB cable. If the relevant drivers for your device are not installed, Kingo ROOT will automatically download and install the drivers. After you see the Driver Installation Succeeded message, reconnect your Android device to your PC.

Jailbreaking your Android device lets you install Custom ROMs, mods and third party apps that require root access. Most of these ROMs and mods are available at the XDA forums. The prerequisite for these is, obviously, a rooted Android device.
