How to Use Samsung Pay with Non-Samsung Phones – 2 Alterative Methods in 2023
In the last couple of years, more and more paying systems have been developed. You’ve probably already picked your favorite, but if not, you might want to check out our article Google Pay vs. Samsung Pay, to analyze them a bit better. Each system has its advantages and disadvantages but it seems like Samsung Pay is dedicated only to people who have Samsung Phones. Or is it?
Obviously, the easiest way to use Samsung Pay seamlessly is to have a Samsung phone. But what if you don’t want to? Since we’re talking about Android here, of course, there are solutions to any problem. So let’s see how to use Samsung Pay with Non-Samsung phones.
Method 1: How to use Samsung Pay by Installing the APK
If don’t have a Samsung Wearable, then you can try installing the apk of the Samsung Pay app on your phone. Technically, Samsung Pay should work on any smartphone that has NFC and uses an OS above Android 6. Note that the latest apk version might not work properly on your phone, so if this happens, you should try installing older ones. However, in the end, even the oldest version could work with a couple of glitches.
Step 1: Download and Install the APK

Step 2: Open the downloaded APK and press install
Step 3: Open the App and Sign In
If you don’t already have a Samsung Account, you will have the opportunity to make one now. Afterward, you will be prompted to agree with the Terms&Conditions.
Step 4: Add Fingerprint
If you want to use a fingerprint to access Samsung Pay, tap on Use Fingerprint option. If you’d prefer a PIN, tap skip and you’ll be prompted to select a PIN.
Step 5: Enter Backup Password
The backup password is necessary in case you forget your PIN or for some reason the fingerprint doesn’t work. Better be safe than sorry.
Step 6: Add Your Payment Cards
Now add the cards you’d like to use. You can even add Paypal. And now you’re ready to do some shopping!

Method 2: How to Use Samsung Pay with Samsung Gear
Okay, so you don’t have a Samsung Phone. Samsung Pay can be accessed through Samsung Gear as well. Most Samsung Gear devices can be paired and used successfully with non-Samsung smartphones. Let’s take for example this Samsung Gear S3 Classic Smartwatch that you can find on Amazon.

Step 1: Launch Galaxy Wearable
From your smartphone, launch the Galaxy Wearable app. If you don’t have it already, you can download it by clicking on the button below.
Step 2: Tap ‘Open Samsung Pay’
After you tap “Open Samsung Pay”, on instructions on how to navigate through Samsung Pay will be prompted on the screen of your wearable.
Step 3: Press Back Key
If you want to make a payment with your Samsung Gear, press the back key.
Step 4: Select a card
Scroll through the cards on your list, select one and press pay.
Step 5: Pay!
Keep your watch near the card reader. When the information is recognized, the payment will be processed.

Can Samsung Pay Work without NFC?
Samsung Pay also comes with a wallet technology named MTS(Magnetic Strip Technology) -that allows a contactless payment to be made with terminals that do not feature NFC readers, as if you would use an actual card.

With a little work, sure. You’ll have to download the APK and install the version that will work on your phone. You can find the right one through trial and error, s it might take a little time!
